Instance#
This page answers common questions about managing virtual machine (VM) instances in the myDelska Dashboard — hostnames, lifecycle actions, limits, IP addresses, billing intervals, and internet speed.
How to choose a virtual machine (VM) hostname#
You can assign any hostname to your VM, with the following restrictions:
- Each segment of the hostname, separated by dots, must be between 1 and 63 characters long.
- The complete hostname (including dots) must be no more than 253 characters in total.
- The hostname can only contain ASCII letters (a–z), digits (0–9), and hyphens (-).
Please note: A hostname can’t start with a hyphen.
What actions can I take with my VM?#
You can perform the following operations on the VMs you created: Start, Stop, Restart, and Delete. Open your instance in the myDelska Dashboard to use them.
Is a VM charged if I stop it?#
Yes. If you stop your VM, charges still apply according to its selected configuration. While the VM is in STOP status, all its data is retained and you can start it again at any time, so it is charged at the standard hourly rate for an active VM.
Please note: The VM must be deleted for charges to stop. Deleting a VM also deletes its data and backups.
How many VMs can I create in my Workspace?#
By default, each Workspace allows up to 10 virtual machines. If you need more than 10 VMs in a single Workspace, you can increase this limit by submitting a support ticket.
Please note: Include the number of additional VMs required and the reason for the increase to speed up processing.
Where can I find my public/private IP?#
You can find your VM’s IP addresses in two places:
- Dashboard » Instances » underneath the name of your VM.
- Dashboard » Instances » open the Instance » go to the Network section.
See the Network guide for public vs. private network details.
During which time intervals is a VM charged?#
VMs are charged hourly (Pay As You Go). Monthly price estimates are based on 720 hours of usage per month. See Billing Methods for the full billing model.
What’s the default internet speed per VM?#
100 Mbps public internet is included by default.
Can I increase the internet speed of my VM?#
Yes. Available plans: 200 Mbps, 300 Mbps, 400 Mbps, 500 Mbps, and 1 Gbps. You can choose a higher speed when deploying a VM, or upgrade an existing VM under Dashboard » Upgrade (see Upgrade Virtual Machine).
Is there downtime when upgrading bandwidth?#
Generally no — bandwidth changes take effect immediately.
How is pricing handled for bandwidth upgrades?#
Pay as you go with an hourly rate: upgrades apply immediately and are prorated for the actual time used.
Is data usage metered?#
No. Traffic is unmetered — we don’t bill by the gigabyte, and there is no data cap.
