This page answers common questions about managing virtual machine (VM) instances in the myDelska Dashboard — hostnames, lifecycle actions, limits, IP addresses, billing intervals, and internet speed.

How to choose a virtual machine (VM) hostname#

You can assign any hostname to your VM, with the following restrictions:

Each segment of the hostname, separated by dots, must be between 1 and 63 characters long.
The complete hostname (including dots) must be no more than 253 characters in total.
The hostname can only contain ASCII letters (a–z), digits (0–9), and hyphens (-).

Please note: A hostname can’t start with a hyphen.

Backup#

This guide explains how to create one-time and scheduled backups for your virtual machine (VM), view existing backups, and restore them when needed.

What types of backups can I create?#

You can create and use two backup types at the same time: a One-Time Backup and a Scheduled Backup.

Scheduled Backup — created automatically according to the schedule you define. You specify the frequency, days, and time when the backup should run, and how many copies to keep.
One-Time Backup — a single backup of your data created on demand, dated at the moment you launch it.

How many backups can I make for my VM?#

You can make an unlimited number of backups for your VM. Note that each GB of backup storage is charged hourly (see backup pricing below).

Create extra disk#

This guide shows how to add an extra disk to your virtual machine (VM) in myDelska, make it usable inside the operating system, and upgrade its size later.

How can I add additional storage space (extra disk) to my VM?#

To add additional storage to your VM, follow the steps below:

Open the virtual machine located under the Dashboard.
Select the Storage section.
Select an extra disk size from the template (100GB, 500GB, or 1000GB) or enter the exact disk space you need.
Click Create.

Open the Storage section in myDelska to add a disk.

Upgrade

Upgrade Virtual Machine#

As your workload grows, you can move your virtual machine (VM) to a higher plan with more CPU, RAM, and disk directly from the Dashboard.

How can I upgrade to a higher VM plan?#

To upgrade your VM to a higher plan, follow the steps below:

Open your instance in the Dashboard section.
Go to the Upgrade section.
Select the new instance configuration and click Confirm.
Confirm the instance upgrade and click Upgrade.
The virtual machine’s resources will be increased.

Please note: The instance will be STOPPED during the upgrade. Plan the upgrade for a maintenance window if the VM runs production workloads.

Settings#

What settings can be changed on a virtual machine (VM)?#

For a running VM, you can change the following settings in the Settings section of the instance:

Hostname — see the hostname requirements
Timezone
SSH keys — see Generate and use SSH key
Password — used for Console access

To change them, open your instance in the myDelska Dashboard and go to Settings.

Keep your passwords in a safe place, such as a password manager.

Activity#

What information can be viewed in the VM activity report?#

The Activity section of an instance shows:

When the instance was created.
Which additional actions were performed on the instance, in what time periods, and by which user.

To open it, select your instance in the myDelska Dashboard and go to Activity.

The report period can be set to 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days.

Console#

What is a VNC console?#

The VNC (Virtual Network Computing) console is a remote access method used to reach a VM’s screen over the network — directly from your browser, without an SSH client or a public IP.

Where can I find my VM’s VNC console?#

Open the Dashboard » select an Instance and open it » go to Console. Open the Dashboard in myDelska to get started.

Console access uses the VM password set during deployment or in the VM Settings.
